Coaches

William Corbin: (Coach)

He was the Varsity Basketball Coach at Brockport High School (1969-1988), where he taught mathematics. He amassed a career Varsity record of 274-104 (.719). During those 20 years, his teams won eight Monroe County League Championships, and were Section V Finalists twice. He was rewarded as Coach of the year twice. Recently was one of three Charter Inductees into the Brockport High School Wall of Fame.

Renee (Diemoz) Wager

She was a Varsity player at Keshequa Central (1978-1981), where she authored the record book for girls’ basketball in the days before the three point shot, and when the seasons consisted of 13 regular season games. At the time of her induction, some 25 years later, she will still hold the records for the most points in a game (37), a season (375), averaging for a season (22.1), career points (1,123) and career assists and steals. She also scored in double figures for the last 51 consecutive games of her career. She was the Section V Tournament MVP in 1980. An all-around athlete, she lettered 16 times while a student at Keshequa, earning four letters each in soccer, volleyball, basketball and softball. She took her court talents to St. John Fisher College, where she played 1981-1985. At the time of her graduation, she had become the tenth all-time scorer for Fisher, had served as team captain her last two years, and was honored with numerous awards by Rochester media and the ECAC. In 1998, she was inducted into the St. John Fisher Hall of Fame for soccer and basketball.

Michelle Harris

A 1987 graduate of Rochester Wilson Magnet High School, she set several records which still existed at the time of her induction, including career points (1,276), career rebounds (1,155), and most points in a single game (43). She was named to the All-City Team four times (’84-’87), was the MVP of the City League (’86). She was named to the Democrat and Chronicle All Greater Rochester Team twice (’86, ’87), the Times Union Super Fifteen Team (’86), and was named Co-Player of the Year for the Super 15 team in ’87. During that senior season, she was recognized on the local, state and national level, when she also was named to the All-State team, and achieved Converse All-American status. Her college career saw her move to the Division I NCAA level, playing one year at Villanova University and three years at Canisius College. She has been a three-time performer in basketball at the New York State Empire State Games.

Kara (Haun) Rehbaum

A 1980 graduate of Irondequoit High School, she set records for the most career points (1,046) and rebounding (859). She was a three-time All-County selection (’78-’80), and was named to the Section V All-Tournament Team (’77-’78). In her senior year, she was named to the Democrat and Chronicle’s All-Greater Rochester First Team, and was the Rochester Times Union’s Player of the Year. She played college basketball at Canisius College, where she set records for all-time scoring (1,661), all-time rebounding (1075*), games played (119*), and games started (118*). [* indicates that the record still exists.] In her senior year at Canisius, she was recognized as the R.T. French Player of the Year in Division II College Basketball, Team MVP, and Co-Player of the Year in the Upstate Conference. She was drafted by the Atlanta Comets of the Women’s American Basketball Conference, and played for one year, when the league was disbanded. Basketball still remains in her blood, and after a stint of coaching at Canisus, she now is in her second year as Head Women’s Coach and Assistant Athletic Director at Hilbert College in Buffalo.

Steve Mack

He played center/forward for Rush-Henrietta Roth High, where he led his teammates to the 1980 Section V Championship in Class AA, and was named the Section V Tournament MVP. Roth went on to the New York State Championships, where they lost by only two points to Bellport, L.I. before the hometown crowd at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He was named twice to the Monroe County First Team (’79,’80), and in his senior year, the All-Greater Rochester First Team, and the New York State Fifth Team. His college career took him to Hilbert Junior College and Hartford College. He was named a Junior College All-American (’82), and twice was named to the All Penn York Conference. He was honored with All Conference recognition while at Hartford (’84), and was ranked 4th nationally for rebounding that same year. His basketball interests continued when he served as an assistant coach for Livonia High (2001-2004).

Amy Dreshler-Margolis

She is a graduate of Greece Athena High School (’97), where she began playing Varsity basketball as an eighth grader (’93), when she was selected to the Monroe County 2nd team. During her five-year basketball career, her teams built an overall record of 100-16. She scored 1,362 points, collected 682 rebounds and blocked 213 shots. Awards and recognition earned include: Three times selected for the Monroe County First Team, and once as a member of the second team. She was the Monroe County Division I Player of the Year in 1997. A three-time Section V All-Tournament selection, she was also recognized by local media and named three times to the Democrat and Chronicle’s All-Greater Rochester Team and the Times Union’s Super 15 Team. She set Athena records for a single season in Field Goal Shooting Percentage (54%), Free Throw Shooting Percentage (82%), Blocked Shots (55), and a career record for blocked shots (213). On the national level, she was the first Rochester Area female to be selected as a pre-season High School All-American candidate by Street and Smith’s, and in 1997, was a nominee for the NIKE/WBCA High School All-American Team. A gifted athlete, she also earned Varsity letters in softball, tennis and track and field. Her efforts were rewarded with a four-year full scholarship to NCAA Division I Providence College.

Roger Smith

He played three years at Geneseo Central, all as a starter (’59-’61) and broke an existing single game scoring record (37 points). In his three years on the Varsity, he scored 1,323 points, in a time when there was not a three-point shot. That record still exists at the time of his induction. He led his team to its first and only undefeated season in 1960, and the school’s first Section V Championship, then continued the drive in his senior, when his team won a second consecutive Section V Championship, suffering only one loss. He was a Section V Tournament All-Tourney Selection in 1960 and 1961, winning the MVP award both times. He played college ball at Alfred Tech, and also returned to his Alma Mater and coach JV basketball at Geneseo for three years. An Air Force Veteran, ha served in Viet Nam for 18 months, and is retired from the U. S. Postal Service.
